Most cars have a Hot air intake (HAI) and a Cold air intake (CAI). The HIA draws air in from a metal plate attached to the exhaust manifold which becomes very hot. Buying a Cold air intake kit allows the engine to only breathe in cold air which is more dense, containing more oxygen which makes the combustion process more explosive.
This obviously means spending money. Or does it? I've managed to modify my stock air intake to only draw in cold air using a screwdriver and some duck tape. To do this all i had to do was open the box which splits the Cold air inlet from the hot air inlet and remove the plastic/rubber flap. Once this has been taken out I removed the hot air tube and duck taped the hole going into the switch box.
Do this at your own risk. I will not take any responsibility for damage done to your car, yourself, others or other cars or property.
